Received this e-mail today from the Council for a Livable World in support of U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D. NM) & Jon Tester’s (D. MT) re-election campaigns:
The attacks have already begun.
Council-endorsed Senators Martin Heinrich (D-NM) and JonTester (D-MT) have spent years in the U.S. Senate fighting for tough, but sensible solutions to our security challenges. Yet hawks are working early to unseat them next year, hoping to elect new Senators that would help President Trump undermine our hard-fought diplomatic achievements.
In a despicable move, hawks have labeled Senator Tester as “Tehran Jon” for his support of the Iran Deal. And Senator Heinrich’s support of the agreement is a top criticism from pro-war factions in his state.
Of course, we know that the Iran Deal makes America safer. The agreement represents a model of diplomacy – Iran agreed to strict restrictions and a roll-back of its nuclear program without a single shot being fired. The Iran Deal and the Senators who supported it must be protected or this country might be dragged into another war.
